Washington, D.C.—American Commitment and American Encore—national advocacy organizations committed to freedom and free markets—are joining forces to launch a hard-hitting new ad campaign targeting Democrats for their cynical “new Obamacare lie” that they ostensibly intend to “fix” the failed Obamacare law.
The new “Fix It Fail” campaign is based on extensive polling analysis and commits an initial $100,000 to an aggressive paid and earned media effort to spotlight the utter lack of credibility when Obamacare supporters dishonestly claim they intend to “fix it” while actually blocking all legislative reform efforts.
“Either Senate Democrats will undertake in earnest honest, open floor debate to reopen health care reform in a bipartisan fashion, or their ‘fix it’ claims will be exposed as just another Obamacare lie,” said Phil Kerpen, president of American Commitment and Sean Noble, president of American Encore, in a joint-memorandum. “Millions of Americans are suffering the disastrous consequences of this law, and the same Senate Democrats who thwart any attempt to fix the worst elements of the law are out on the campaign trail claiming that, if reelected, they will fix it. It’s a slap in the face and we won’t allow it to go unchallenged.”
The compelling memorandum lays out a poll-tested messaging strategy designed to expose the new Obamacare “fix it” lie—beginning with a launch ad campaign:
From the memorandum: “Polls consistently show extremely low support for Obamacare as it presently exists. However, the same polls also show large support for “fixing the law,” and appealing to that larger group is the principal Democratic public relations strategy for surviving the constant bad news about the law’s implementation. At the same time, the Democratic legislative strategy remains to block all changes to the law in the Senate, without allowing committee consideration, amendments, or votes.”
From the memorandum: “This disconnect creates a huge opportunity to expose “we want to fix it” as yet another Obamacare lie, from precisely the same people who claimed “you can keep your plan” as recently as last year and therefore are not to be trusted. This would force Obamacare supporters to choose between reopening the law for genuine wholesale reconsideration or losing all credibility on their “fix it” claim.”
The first ad in the joint campaign, titled “Just Another Obamacare Lie,” begins with President Obama’s “you can keep your plan” lie—followed by clips of seven U.S. Senators—Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK), Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC), Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Sen. Mark Pryor (D-AR), Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), and Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA)—repeating the lie. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) then concludes—when asked if she feels misled by Obama, she responds, “…we all knew.”
The ad then transitions to video clips of the same gang of seven U.S. Senators proclaiming that the Obama health law needs to be “fixed.” Once again, these promises are exposed as lies. Former HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius admits that “I have not sent legislation to Congress…” And DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz admits that “…there’s no specific bill actually right now that I would, uh…”
The ad concludes with…“They Won’t Fix It…It’s just another Obamacare lie.”
